Labrador Tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum) is one of the most treasured wild herbs we forage here in Northern Saskatchewan. This fuzzy-leaved evergreen thrives in bogs and muskeg, offering a deep, earthy, slightly piney aroma that, to me, is unmatched—of all the wild herbs we gather, I personally think it has the best scent.
Key Benefits:
Respiratory Relief: Eases coughs, congestion, and sore throats.
Anti-Inflammatory: Soothes joint pain and supports recovery.
Digestive Aid: Stimulates bile flow and eases bloating when used moderately.
Calming Herb: Gently sedative, helps with stress and sleep.
Use with Care:
Best enjoyed in small amounts (1 tsp dried leaves per cup).
Avoid during pregnancy or in large doses due to its potency.
Always dry leaves before use to reduce irritation.
We forage Labrador Tea with care on our Northern Saskatchewan land, using it in seasonal teas and healing salves. It’s a beautiful example of the powerful medicine growing right under our feet.
